Hello everyone!
After some years using gaiwan for all type of teas, I would like to take the next step, buying a good teapot.
As I'm a yancha person, I have done some research about what type of teapot would match with it, but the info I get is just confusing. I found some discussion about using Yixing or Jianshui, and I found people that prefer to brew it with a gaiwan too (so maybe I should buy a teapot for other type of tea which brewing with teapot makes the difference). I'm also quite confused with the subtypes of Yixing and the different shapes. To sum up, I don't know where to start with.
I hope someone can give me some advice and opinion to start searching in the right way. Thank you for your attention!

I'm just now seeing this, but I'm genuinely interested - what did you go with if anything?yinyuetea wrote: Hello everyone!

If you love yancha, a well-made Yixing (zini clay) teapot around 100–140ml is a great match.

Absolutely agree, yancha and zini clay are a match made in tea heaven! The heat retention and porosity of a well-seasoned Yixing really enhance the depth and roast of a good Wuyi oolong.lory101 wrote: If you love yancha, a well-made Yixing (zini clay) teapot around 100–140ml is a great match.
Personally, I’ve found that 100-140ml is a sweet spot too, enough to savor without overwhelming the leaves. Do you dedicate your pot to just yancha, or a specific varietal like Shui Xian or Rou Gui? Always love hearing how others season and care for their teaware!
