New Job

by Space Samurai » Apr 17th, '08, 00:18

Since we're updating each other on our current lives...

I'm starting a new job. I found out today. If you don't know, I work in Specialty Grocery for a chain in Texas. I will be leaving my store to work with a vendor, European Imports (http://www.eiltd.com). It will mean a substantial raise, plus extra bonuses like a car allowance (what the hell is that? I don't know, but it sounds awesome) a laptop and a black berry (again, what the hell is this?) Needless to say I'm pretty psyched.

What's interesting is this all started with Tea.

My new boss was in the store and we were talking about a cookie reset, and they had brought in these new Biscotea (tea flavored shortbread cookies). I asked her had she tried them and began to describe the them and how surprisingly good I thought they were. A week later she was calling me to set up an interview.

After all the money and time I have give to Tea, Tea finally gives back. :D

Woohoo!

Are these crackers going to have tea for you to be around, though?

BTW, blackberry is a mini-multi-function/cell-phone device. Usually used for mobile e-mail, etc.
Car allowance can mean a "cent-per-mile" for gas, and sometimes a flat sum for depreciation, repairs, and normal wear-and-tear.

This obviously means they are giving him bunches of blackberrys, which are delicious.

Gratz on the new job man! Best of luck!

Tea's giving wasn't entirely selfless...all these new perks will allow you to buy more tea and ware, after all. :)

Congrats, Space. If anyone deserves some terrific news, it's you.

So...what a day.

With the new job, I'd be servicing the company I currently work for. This was a problem for some people.

With in a few hours after I turned in my notice, word went up the chain of command in my store, then outside the store, till the number 3 or 4 guy in the company called my would-be new employer and, long story short, made sure that I wouldn't get the job after all.

This is kind of like a bad 80's spy movie, where the Russian guy who wants to defect gets assasinated by the KGB, 'cos he might know to much. Accept I'm not Chuck Norris, and I did not get to kick anybody's ass.

Instead I drove to the store and stormed in on a meeting my bosses were having and proceeded to say *freak* at them till they calmed me down.

*freak*. And *freak* the stupid *freak* censor that wont let me *freak* say *freak*.
