I'll say this. My immediate superiors and I are working something out, and we're cool. But I'm not going to forget that after ten years of exemplory service on my part, the company chose to *freak* me for no better reason than they perceived a possible threat to themselves.CynTEAa wrote:Geez! Did they offer you a promotion or raise?? Threaten litigation!
What happened??
What pisses me off the most is that they excuse this behavior by saying its just "business." Its okay for a large company to squash my career with a phone call, its just business. Does it matter if I have enough money now to pay my growing medical expenses?
What the *freak*?!?
That is NOT right. Can you call your company on it or ask your potential new place to give you specifics of why they took back the offer? Argh, this is just so not right that my brain is firing stutters and random associations...one of which is this post.

If the stress of this situation has worsened your medical issues, I urge you to go see your doctor and have it documented...just in case.
Also at this point they have lost your trust and loyalty and are impeding your professional development. They need to make you a juicy offer. Accept nothing less than appropriate compensation.
It isn't 'just business,' it's being crappy.

Lastly, if the other company wanted you others will as well. U haz skillz. Fire up that resume and circulate it, ASAP.

Thanks for the support everyone.
Litigation isn't a possibility. Shady has it may be, they did not do anything illegal.
As far as looking elsewhere for employment, the problem is my company is the specialty food game in town. There's a Whole Foods, but they aren't doing the sales we are.
And last, my superiors are working something out, both temporary and long term. I don't want to divulge details, but the temporary solution is fair and their long term, if I want it, is much better than I would've had.

Let me guess, non-competition clause?
Whatever it was, that sucks. Hoping the best for you.
