You've got to rinse very, very well, then rinse again. Or you can speed up the process a bit by dissolving some baking soda into some of the rinse water...and rinse thoroughly after that.

In the future, you may also wish to use a less-strong dilution of vinegar. A tablespoon of vinegar to a cup and a half to two cups of water is usually ample for my cleaning needs.

Strange...

It is stainless steel. Mine, I pour full strength vinegar up to the full line, let it sit for hours, swirl it around, pour it off into some glass teaware the also need descaling. Rinse several times and never had a lingering vinegar smell issue.

Vinegar is a staple for me in descaling non porous teaware. I am serious when I say, tea tastes better after I descale everything.

Full strength? Dang...unless your scale is growing stalactites and stalagmites, you can probably save fifty cents worth of vinegar (it is sinfully cheap, isn't it?) by going half strength. 1:1 with water.

LOL...

*has hard water and does not descale near often enough*

But til I am done descaling everything...I pour it into all my glass pictures, teacups, etc, I suspect it is near saturation of calcium and the acidity is near 0%.

The only thing I don't like about visiting my brother is his water. Stalactites and stalagmites it is. If I lived there, I would have to descale more than once a week, I think. After two days of heating water a few times, there is enough visible white stuff to make me uncomfortable. I suppose I would go for bottled water.

At home I go months without descaling.

Always consult TeaDay before starting a new topic because I am psychic and know what is on everyone's minds a day in advance.
