Here's the final copy! lol minus the typos this time!
So, I received my Polder thermometer today! I have to say this thing is simple to use, fast, and amazing! It's a digital kitchen thermometer, it reads using a probe on a 43" ex trended wire. It cleans very easy, and is stainless steal; so from what I hear you can actually use it with other things and still not touch the flavor of anything else (going to experiment with marinated meat and hot water). BUT I have a feeling I will just buy an extra probe for my other products!
It has a temperature alarm, so you can set the tea temperature and it will sound an alarm when you reach the right temp. I suggest setting it 2 degrees lower, and setting watching it hit the desired temp OR it's great with glass so you can let it hit a degree or so over, then by the time you pour it should be at the desired temp.
Another great feature is the thermometer clamp! It clips onto anything without affecting the temperature (i.e.. temperature of the pot instead of the water). It really works amazing! The only downside is that it must be unclamped when pouring, or the teapot lid will not fit on obviously.
It also has a countdown timer! This simple, large number display is loud and practical! I had the music playing and could still hear it in another room!
The thermometer is black, with silver finish, very sleek, and has a magnetic back! For cooking it's great because you can check temperature without opening the oven and letting heat out, and can stick it right on the door! It warns not to use this feature with grill or BBQ, but it's a fast thermometer and can read fast enough without loosing much heat!
There are other thermometer models but the $24.99 model was fine for me! Come's with batteries and can be found at target, target online, amazon, and I'm sure other places! Target Catalog # : 10627487
It's really a great buy, and save you from steam burns, even without using the clamp!

Mary, has Adagio ever considered stocking thermometers for tea preparation? I looked on the site, but couldn't find any.
There was an earlier thread where several people suggested that Adagio carry a tea scale for weighing tea, too. I'd be interested in buying one of those, one of these days.
Shoot, you could even sell them together, as a prep kit for the serious tea addict...

I don't know if Adagio's ever considered that. I'm not an Adagio employee, nor is Chip, so we really can't answer questions that specifically deal with the company. Xine's the Mod for those inquiries, or you can e-mail the company directly.
I do know that Adagio's never sold thermometers...or any other instrument of measurement for that matter. There have been requests for Adagio-branded thermometers/scales/teaspoons before, so who knows? Maybe someday there will be.

OK. Sorry to have misunderstood - for some reason I thought you were an Adagio rep as well as being moderator!Mary R wrote:I don't know if Adagio's ever considered that. I'll send a wee note then. Thanks
