Perchance if and when teachatters have the urge to get "un-HR-appropriate," they might secure a private chatroom? Perhaps an ITD chatroom somewhere... I don't know, just trying to be solution oriented!
Might be useful for discussing such covert operations as the Monthly ITD tasting as well....

Since this was brought up...I assume due to the IM discussion this evening.
I want to clarify something...first, I received complaints I feel were legit. I have been watching IM enough lately to know what is going on. I witnessed discussions that made me cringe in the last few days.
I think the IM discussions are 90% good...really good... The IMers are an asset to the forum. I truly mean that.
But just a few moments of routine indescretion have created a bit of a problem. An occasional flirtation is one thing, but incessent flirtation is just annoying and offensive to many viewers. Remember, the whole world is watching, not the few actually talking. 40-50-60m year old women read this stuff too.
Yes, this is the internet...
Please, no knee jerk reactions. Have fun with the entire forum. We are a fellowship, a family. I am not asking you to become monks.
Just avoid going into the obvious. Body parts of a sexual nature (you know what I mean), female clothing, bodily fluids of a sexual nature, references to sexual acts...you know what I am talking about. I have also witnessed excessive discussions about sexual orientation.
I have no intention of getting into policing the IM. I have enough to do. I believe we are all responsible adults. Please do not make our jobs miserable. The last thing Mary or I want to do is PM someone about misconduct. Some forums issue tabulated warnings that once you reach the limit, you are gone. We certainly do not want an oppressive forum environment, but respect is a 2 way street.
Please show some respect to our host and all members, many of whom are twice or thrice your age. Membership is a priveledge, not a right.
We may not agree 100% on these things, but I bet we generally agree...

Yeah...I can no longer remember how to get to the IRC channel/work Chatzilla without going to East's site. And it's just very, very difficult to do anything but chat when I use that interface.Rob wrote:There's already the IRC channel for that. Only a few of us have made much of a habit of it, though.
Can someone help a girl out (again)? What exactly do I type to end up at TeaChat's home away from home?

Yeah, I've seen you in my site's channel. If you don't have an irc client, just /join #teachat.Mary R wrote:Yeah...I can no longer remember how to get to the IRC channel/work Chatzilla without going to East's site. If you do, the server name is irc.rizon.net Then /join #teachat
Mary, best IRC client for the mac is Colloquy. It's very easy to use, especially after you get over the hurdle of setting it up (small hurdle, that is easy too)
http://colloquy.info/downloads/colloquy-latest.zip
(assuming you have 10.3.x or greater?)
Once you set it up it logs you in automatically to your chosen channels, ie, once it is set up you won't have to do it again, it will just work.

Repeatedly going here is not acceptable.Chip wrote:Just avoid going into the obvious. Body parts of a sexual nature (you know what I mean.)
Membership to TC is open to anyone 14 and up.
I do not enjoy playing hall monitor. I to be honest resent having to do this.
I will repeat, I have received complaints from members, therefore, even if I wanted to ignore this type of language and other behavior, I cannot.
I witnessed nearly 2 days of broader member participation in IM. I would like to see that continue. Yet I see this deteriorating already.
I am asking you to please cooperate, show a some decorum and consideration.
Thank you.
EDIT by Chip...The 2 days mentioned here refers to the 2 days since this issue was addressed. The decorum was much improved. I should have said thank you!!! I greatly appreciate this. Only yesterday, there was a little too much slippage.
I do not care to go into specifics, but please think a little before you post questionable material. I know for a fact that you all are intelligent enough to express youselves w/o the use of foul language and references.
