I'd love to see how the color would show through the "rice."

The number of images has, I think, really increased over the last six months or so. I agree, they add so much to the value of the forum. Including the cell phone pix, first try pix, I-just-borrowed-this-camera-and-don't-know-how-to-use-it pix. I think it is great. For trent: The color doesn't show through as much as you would think. The "holes" are very small, and mostly let light through. Unless the tea color is very striking, not much displays through the sides.
For reference, I used some iced tea I had already brewed, a mixture of black and hibiscus. Here's the tea intensity:

And the light is a 50w halogen on my range hood, cup is placed directly below:

and last, I held it directly under the light:
