I believe the yunomi with lids are called futatsuki?chamekke wrote:The next one is a small "chawan"-shaped yunomi with lid:)
These pictures are very high quality. Maybe you should give photo tips to others?chamekke wrote:All of these were photographed in available light, to avoid bleaching out the details. I'll have to start studying that photo tips thread so that I can do a little better! (Not to mention photographing them with tea inside them, too)

Thank you! I looked it up and that's correct. I will make a notebritt wrote:I believe the yunomi with lids are called futatsuki?
I did a Google image search based on futatsuki and found a page on the Rakuten site (a shop called Kuramoto) where you can buy ONLY futa (lids) for yunomi. For the completicists only:
Yunomi futa:

...while the chataku fans might enjoy a good drool over here:

...and the yunomi fans can head directly to Go for sets:

...or individual cups:

It's OK, and I hope my reply wasn't impolite. It's just that I don't have a lot of money to spend on wares these days, so I have to rely on clever treasure-hunting to find things that are more affordable, since I can't hope to outbid other people if they discover these auctions too. If I give away my searching tips, I give away the only advantage that I do have.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:Oh, okay, sorry for asking.chamekke wrote:Heh heh... One thing I will mention, though... misspellings and misidentifications are your friend! I once found an absolutely fantastic Japanese pottery vase that was listed as a "socky bottle" (i.e. a sake bottle). The seller was the nephew of the original owner, and was getting rid of the things his uncle had brought back from Japan. The vase turned out to have been made by a very highly regarded Japanese potter, and is perfect for use in the tearoom.
