music

by joelbct » Jun 25th, '08, 13:48

So i just got a new in-dash stereo that has an aux input for my MP3 player, and so I signed up for the Napster subscription/unlimited mp3 download service. Thus I am in need of music....

Anyone have any bands/artists/tracks to recommend?

My tastes are pretty broad... From pop to baroque, rock, funk, blues, jazz, dance/electronic/club, etc... And anything I can't find on Napster I can probably find on Soulseek...

One thing you might do is to listen to some internet radio. Shoutcast has the best directory of stations I've seen to date, and is how I've gotten turned on to some new stuff. If you use Winamp then you could also get the Stream Ripper plugin to save individual MP3s from the stream, but otherwise you could at least find some stuff you like and seek out the albums.

I totally agree. I've found a lot of new music that I really like this way, too.

I would agree! I am a Jazz cat! I love female Jazz artist. Try Mindy Abair, she is awesome. Of course you can't go wrong with Greg Osby my latest album from his is titled "Channel Three" He is an infusion of Jazz and hippop beats. Just awesome!

I used to just use earbuds and just use one ear when I was on the phone :)

Somafm.com has a nice selection of really good channels.

My absolute favorite group ever is Bonobo, especially their "Days to Come" album.

Also I'm totally in love with Bill Evans and Dave Brubeck as far as jazz goes.
