English teaware

by Katrina » Jul 11th, '08, 16:35

I've loved learning about some amazing Asian teaware sources in my time on TeaChat. Now I'd love to find out about good English teaware sources. So send along your links to the "girly" stuff and the Brown Bettys and the like! Photos too! (I know Henley must have some ideas!!!)

I don't know what made you think of me?! Image

If you want vintage pieces, I would suggest starting w/local antique stores. Sometimes you can find them at estate sales, too. That's how I got started. There's also several on ebay. If you type in "cup saucer", there's 1000s of them so I usually try to narrow down my search to country of origin, specific color, etc. I'm eyeballing a couple of teapots, too.

New pieces... I'm still working on that one. One of the things I'm looking for on this buying trip is a couple of new vendors for "girly" teaware. If I see anything I like, I'll let you know who makes it so you can be on the look out for it.

BTW, hubby found me a beautiful cup & saucer yesterday. It was only $128 wholesale price! Needless to say, we didn't order any of them.

:D Oh, yay! This might just become my home thread.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Something else I thought of today is one of our vendors, Porcelain Treasures. www.porcelaintreasures.com They only sell to retailers but you can visit their website & if there's something you like, they have a store locator & you might find someone close to you who sells it. All my teapots have come from her.

Found one vendor today you might look for -- it was Andrea by Sadek(?). I've got their info buried somewhere in one of our bags... Good luck!
