Artificial sweeteners I can live without... but tea, thats a problem! So, I'm hoping to discover that ALL tea is not the culprit. I'd prefer to blame it on aspartame, as there seems to be a massive array of information neurotoxic effects of the stuff... tingling of the extremeties being one of those symptoms.

I drank water all day... and now I am home from work, and wishing for something warm and comforting. It's rather depressing to not have my tea. But, on the bright side, I haven't seemed to have any caffeine withdrawal headache.

Thanks again for everyone's input and concern. It really DOES feel like an allergic reaction of sorts... now I am thinking about taking some benadryl, just to see if that helps.

IF you must use a sweeteneer, and if it mustn't be sugar, then I suggest Stevia. Alot of the artificial sweeteners are very highly poisonous. I don't want to go into all of the studies, but I know alot of people who have had health problems due to them, or their problems mystically disappeared once they cut them out. :) Personally I hate 90% of all sweets, and the stevia EXTRACT(don't know about leaf powder, people say they like it better in natural form) I tried tasted ..odd. But Strangely, I actually craved it a few days ago. I'm assuming due to healthful changes in my diet..I started hating the taste of things that aren't good for me, and craving even the healthful things I wasn't as keen on..uh so anyway IF you sweeten, try stevia, and if you don't like, give it time.

My other theory is that it was too much caffiene and that can constrict blood vessels. Make sure you drink loads of water and keep higher caffienated teas to a minimum. I'd reccommend too many other things if this were not teachat. :)

I just hope you find out what's wrong, and feel better whatever the cause. If/when reintroducing teas, start with one type a day and write it down if any feeling comes back. It could also be pesticides or additives, or simple reaction between caffiene AND the aspartame. Who knows.

Best wishes.

OK... so first I have to make sure I understand Chaqi... this is like the after-buzz, yes?

I definitely feel some of the tingling more profoundly just after larger consumptions of tea... and some teas seem to provoke it more than others. But... I went totally tea-free for about 5 or 6 days and it never went away. If I understand chaqi properly, I would have thought all the effects would have been long-gone from my system in that timeframe... yes?

So my neurologist basically says... the sensations are probably not originating from tea or caffeine, but certainly may be aggravated by the stimulation to the central nervous system.

Had loads of bloodwork today... testing for Lyme's... Lupus... thyroid stuff... vitamin and mineral stuff... etc. Will update when I know more.

Am keeping you in my thoughts, Sarah. Hope you get some definitive answers soon.
