Very sweet pup! Please let us know what you finally decide to name him.
P.S. Maybe you could start an ITD poll about it...

I am def open to any suggestions or ideas... Other than Kuro and Raku, I've thought of:
Oki (pr 'oaky')
Plato, cuz I like him
Nietzsche ('neachy' pr.), not cuz I love him so much, but the name sounds cute
Neville
Pongo (read that somewhere in a list, think it might be a Disney dog character)
Max
Ozzie
Oliver/Ollie
I don't know... I'm still researching. So many name lists! He is a lot of fun though. Very affectionate and inquisitive. I was watching a DVD this afternoon and a dog started barking in it- he started barking back and got all excited, looking behind the flat screen for the DVD dog. And he gets very excited about his reflection in the glass doors at night

Just like Frisky Puppy in
No Barking (i.e. the bit at 4:10)! Too cute.

Better decide soon! My neighbors had a dog named Dog because they couldn't agree on anything and that's what the little guy ended up learning to respond to.
Your little fluffball is adorable. Congratulations!

Your puppy reminds me of a little Zen monk, all dressed in black but with a touch of white at the throat. (Only Zen monks and women wear white collars on their underkimono.)
If he were my pup, I'd be tempted to name him
Dōgen.

That's so clever and apt, I'd be tempted to name him Dōgen, too.

yes, but how would the people at the dog park know you were yelling with the little mark over the "o" instead of just yelling DOGEN!!!

Heh. You have to mark it in the air with your finger.
Well, just to clarify...
Dōgen is pronounced
Dō (as in Homer Simpson's "d'oh!") and
gen as in the second syllable of again.
It's not
Doggin' or even
Dodgin' - although I suppose the latter might be appropriate if the pup turns out to be good at evasive maneuvres.

Why not name him Teapot? BWAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I really do make myself laugh that hard. I think I need help.
On topic- That is a good dog. Congrats on such an adorable "lil" thing.

One thing that may help (though most of your potential names seem to fit); I have heard that it's better to pick a two-syllable name, as the dog is less likely to confuse it with one-syllable commands (sit, stay, no, etc.). I don't know if this is really true, but intuitively it seems possible.
