Confused by triniTea cup markings

by Carol » Jan 27th, '06, 22:42

Hi,
Novice here. Just received the triniTea yesterday and I am confused by the cup markings and how much tea to use. If I fill the carafe to the level marked "4," when I pour it into the reservoir, it comes up not quite to the level marked 8 or 12 (it is hard to see). So, how many cups is this and how many teaspoons of a black tea would be recommended? I agree with others, by the way, the pot dribbles badly if you don't pour verrrry slowly, and the carafe heating element just keeps the pot lukewarm--but is is a really cool device nonetheless!

Thanks for any advice,
Carol

I don't even use the lid on the cafe anymore. I was getting some splashing when it was done steeping and going into the cafe. I took the lid off and problem solved. I also pour the tea out as fast as desired and never a drip. As for the markings- when I fill I use a 2 cup measurer that I had extra and use that. 4 cups plus a smidge takes it to almost the very top of the reservoir and makes 4 cups according to the marks on the cafe also. I use only 1 tsp of rooibos & black for the whole pot. I use 2 of green and white. I don't like real strong tea though. I also mix a lot- I'll make rooibos cocomint the first time- then leave those leaves in there and add 1/2 tsp of chocolate flavored etc. then make another batch. I LOVE my trinitea - since I got it I drink 16 cups of tea a day easy.

TriniTea Cup markings

Hi! I received my TriniTea about 2 weeks ago and have been using it at least 3 times a day since I got it. I don't even look at the measure in the top of the reservoir, I go by the pot. I usually fill the pot up to 4, and put in 4tsp. of tea. I mostly brew black, and Rooibos that way. I have done some Herbal, and greens this way too.

Depending on the Tea, I pour some of the cold water in the infuser so it blends with the boiling water to achieve the right temperature for those teas.( That was a suggestion in another thread about the TriniTea. )

I too find that the pot dribbles, and have also for the most part stopped using the top of the pot all together.

I am fairly new to loose Tea, but have quickly become addicted to it!!!
