O-Cha's Green Tea Daily Sencha
I've been curious about O-cha's Daily Sencha for a while since it is only $10.95 and even cheaper if you buy it together with the Houjicha, which saves $1.00 on the order. Has anyone tried this tea, how is it taste wise, and how does it compare with a similarly cheap sencha like Den's Fuka-Midori?

I think it is a good daily sencha, pretty easy brewer. If I am feel adventurous, I blend it with karigane, kukicha, and/or matcha. I use these blends a lot hot, but also cold brewed as well. I have also ever so lightly pan fired it, that was really good, tasty a little like barley.
It is so inexpensive, you can really play around with it, but it is good on its own as well if you like a milder sencha. Yutaka Midori it is not.

blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
Personally I wasn't very impressed by either of them. The o-cha hoji though is pretty good.
As far as a sencha in that price range goes, i'm having a hard time thinking of that many outstanding ones. Lupicia's Nara Tsukigase has been a favorite of mine, inching just above the O-cha daily in price, but coming in below the fuka-midori. Also the Ariake Yutakamidori is one that I forgot about until recently when I ran across it on Lupicia as well. That was rather similar to the Chiran Yutakamidori, but signficantly cheaper. The Midori Sencha from White Crane Tea Co. isn't bad either. That one comes in at $15/100g.

The first time I bought it a couple of years ago, I thought it was the best tasting thing I'd ever consumed. But after drinking first-flush for a while, it didn't hit the spot anymore. There's nothing wrong with O-cha's daily sencha but I would definitely save up a few more dollars and get the Otsuusan karigane instead.O-cha wrote:Daily Sencha - This 2008 second harvest green tea is an above average quality sencha
