I was just perusing a retailer's Amazon storefront and came across a set of 2 gaiwans for $15 in a style I haven't seen before:

Apparently it's the type with the small translucent bits that you can see light shine through (they explain it in the description).
These aren't my style, but I know some like this style and the price is pretty decent. I don't know how many they have, so I figured I'd post here first

Thanks for the post! I have not seen this style before either. Looks like the saucer is a cup - hard to tell. This Chinese design is the one that started it all for me back many years ago with some rice cups bought in Chinatown, long before tea became such a part of my life. My search for other rice patterns began with this design, but strangely enough it's the one design I don't collect.

I don't think the saucer is a cup. It's not that uncommon a shape I don't think,
here are some others.

The disco ball of your teaware cabinet. Or rave lights. Depends on your birthday.

I'd like to clarify, I have not seen the rice pattern in a gaiwan before. And that I thought saucer looked unusually deep in the one picture.
I would love to find one (rice pattern gaiwan) in all white, so be on the lookout everyone! And thanks ABx for your post.
