First Matcha?

I got my Chawan, chasen and some pretty good matcha (30g.) all from Wegmans for about $40. Not too bad IMO!

You're probably right Shogun. That's about what chawan and chasen would cost me at Wegmans. Most inexpensive deal I've seen for both items and there isn't any shipping cost tacked on. I'm headed to Wegmans today anyway so it looks like I'll be buying more tea stuff.

I found matcha in Wegmans today. It was in tea bags! I was like...cut me a break. It did have good instructions on the package for brewing temps/times, even warning of leaving the bag in the water to long as it would become bitter. I didn't buy any.

Are you sure it wasn't powdered sencha?

If I remember right wegmans actually does have packets of matcha. They're similar to the minute matcha packets from Lupicia. It's a way to preserve freshness. But the quality on the stuff ain't so great.

Yeah I saw the same thing in Wegmans too, I am pretty sure its powdered sencha or something for cooking or iced tea. Mine came inside a foil bag, probably nitrogen filled then inside a sealed foil/plastic sealed wegmans bag.

I wouldn't waste too much time trying to find decent matcha from local stores.
