Next post:

"BTW, I got some GREAT stuff at xyz.com, you should TRY it!!! "

derrrr... and you don't have any vested interest in this, do you?

A lot of first time posters at Wikicha are also uniquely interested in adding links to their store or blog.

Really, do they really do that? Yeah, and when they say what a great forum we have, try to butter us up first.

It's not entirely unbelievable somebody would rave about a store. I just wish they went about it with a little more sincerity.

That was the only reason I hesitated before posting the note about Teahouse Confections (the wagashi seller) - it could conceivably attract some shills.

Of course, you already know that I have no connection to Teahouse Confections. Although I have to admit, the thought of being bribed with delectable mochi sweets isn't quite as morally repellent to me at the moment as it should be. Must be lunch time!

The guy Geek mentioned posted 2X. Both were the "testimonial bit" for the same shop, not even relating to the topic in the one post. Someone HAS to have more to say before they jump in and give testimonials on TC, that is the rule. This is where Mary and I draw the line because there has to be a line or we would be swamped in spam.

We do make exceptions as Chamekke can testify. She was new and started to post links, saw that I edited someone else and contacted me somewhat panicked.

The difference was, Chamekke was also posting credible posts, en masse as I recall  . She was establishing herself as a member who had more to say than, "I shop here and they are great...blah blah blah."

As a result, I told Chamekke to post links to her heart's content.

But there needs to be a line somewhere.
