Wuyi

by olivierco » Oct 23rd, '08, 14:08

I would like to buy some good Wuyi from a shop that sells to France of course.
Price is no big issue as long it stays under 50-60$ for 100gr.

Any advice?

It's been a while since I've had really good wuyi but hou de and jing were, I think, the last few really good ones came from.

Teaspring also has some decent wuyi and also some I haven't been too impressed with.

The Tea Gallery? If you like the real traditional high fired ones....

But I would highly recommend this traditional Kung Fu tea from Anxi:

They don't seem to send to France: the registration allows only to select US as a country.

Really? Do send them a email, if you may. I think they will do international.

I like these two, but then I'm not a big wuyi drinker -

Bai Ji Guan

Da Ye

You might want to try their wuyi sampler.

This one I really didn't care for:
Beidou Yi Hou
So I put it in the Oolong Pass Box and got got several rave reviews:

I wasn't a big fan of their bei dou either, so you're not alone. :)

I've tried a few of the Da Hong Pao and Rou Gui offerings, and they've all been good as far as I can remember. I actually just ordered some Tie Luo Han and some Da Hong Pao ; I'd be glad to share how they are (I'm pretty sure I've sampled both before and liked them, but it's been a while) once I get them, if you don't mind waiting.

Also, their Shui Jin Gui was only mediocre and their Lao Cong Shui Xian was pretty good.

From Teaspring I was unimpressed with both of the DHP offerings which come in little packets.

The Tie Luo Han I thought was great.

Looking at the site these are the only ones on offer I can comment on just now.

It's been a while since I bought anything from Hou De but I've had 2 DHP teas which were aged just a few years and knocked my socks off.

Thanks for all your advices.
I have just ordered from Houdeasianarts

2005 Spring Wuyi Zheng-yen "Bai Ji Guan"
and
2007 Spring Zhen-Yen Handcrafted "Rou Gui"

I will make an additional order later from another seller. Maybe from teaspring as I want also to taste one of their keemuns but I am not sure yet.
It will also depend if the teagallery shipping costs to France are reasonable.

It's hard to go wrong with Hou De.
Nothing from TeaSpring has impressed me yet.
But I never tried their blacks.
