UncleIroh, I'm really sorry for your loss. I'm sure Nala led a good life, since you obviously loved her.
I've mostly been drinking iced tea today -- lychee black -- but I'm craving something hot. Maybe after dinner. I want to drink more golden monkey but I don't want to burn out on it...
Sean - So sorry to hear about Nala. Such a sad, deep ache when they go. As you go through this time of grieving, I hope you'll also be able to remember the joy and fun she brought to your lives.

I am actually ending up my Oolong samples lately - and will be making a tea order soon. I like having had the option of sampler sizes because it gives some sense of the range and difference in tastes and scents in different brances of the same tea. That gives an idea of how to explore and not jump too far outside your (my) comfort zone. That said - I thought I was adventurous - but realize that I explore , cautiously. I don't want to waste money either these days - and I think
that buying a lot of something just because I thought it was good for me is a thing of the past.
I've discovered I like tea tea - not grain tea, flower tea or fruit tea.
I like grassy - strong but mellow meaning not too astringent or bitter - and I really do not like something that is sweet before I add sweetner - usually honey.
What all this boils down to is that starting out with the samplers has allowed me to find out that I am fussy.
I stupidly had a cup of coffee at 9:30 to try and get the oomph to tackle another project after working all day - and grr - it's almost 11:00 and I still don't want to.
I better not drink tea now too - but I've been examining my little tins trying to decide which one I would be most interested in buying again. ( the one that disappeared the fastest was TKY)
Sorry for the long post. It is caffeine driven.

Comfort zone - caffeine
I read this a long time ago - it was written about coffee but.....
"It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, It is by the beans of Java (insert black tea here) that thoughts acquire speed. The hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion."
Someone tell me why, at 11:29 PM, I just made and drank an entire pot of Irish Breakfast tea. Why oh why?
I think I'll go paint the kitchen then refinish the living room floor then ....

Jeanne - I never met a tea pot I didn't like.

I got distracted yesterday by working on take-home test essays and forgot to post. I always like trying new teas, but there are definitely a few that I continue to purchase again and again. It is probably a 50/50 thing for me. Certain teas just sound good enough that I need to try them. Most of time, I do a bit of research, reading descriptions, and talking with people before I buy something I am unfamiliar with. Swapping teas with people also helps to make it less risky to try new teas. It has worked pretty well so far.

I suspect for the same reason that I just drank a pot of Yunnan Golden. What can we do? The quest for a good cup of tea breaks down all barriers.

I voted 50/50. I usually have a stock of favorites and "safe" teas bit I am willing to try just about any tea and usually have a boatload of samples laying around thanks to teaviews. I just got my first pu sample from Hou De and I have to say that I am not a fan. Ah well, atleast I didn't order an entire cake of it.
