Durability of tins

by garden gal » Feb 27th, '06, 20:53

Well, I can testify that both the old and new 4 oz tins hold up well to abuse. I was putting one up on the shelf when our chocolate lab ran into my leg (she and my son had been chasing each other), knocked me off balance- so I hit the stack of 2 tins beside the spot I was trying to put the tin away in. They go flying off the shelf (which is 5 ft in the air), the dog meanwhile turns around to apologize to me and hits the tins with her tail bouncing them into the log wall, they bounce off of there head for the floor so she tries to catch them in mid air but instead whams them down the flight of wooden steps into the basement where one lands on the concrete floor immediately while the other hits the bottom 4 steps first. I ran to the basement afraid to find my jasmine 12 as well as the white peach (why does this not happen to cheaper teas) all over the floor- not a mark on tins! While I would not recommend this experiment to anyone, it was good to see my tea still in the tins and not on the basement floor!

Good news! I still plan to keep my tins safely stored away, because as poor as I am, I would hate to see my teas spill everywhere.

I am grieving with you on the tea loss :(

No, I didn't lose any- the tins stayed together- lids on nice and tight. It was like a comic movie though now that I look back on it-with the goofy chocolate lab as the star.

Sorry, I misread your post. I missed the work "afraid" in one of the last sentences and so I thought that the tea had spilled but the tins were still in good shape.

In that case, I am breathing a sigh of relief.
