Recommend christmas gift for Non-Tea peeps.

by Kai » Dec 2nd, '08, 10:58

I'm going to be giving some loose tea out as christmas gifts. I found a site with some small and inexpensive tins that I can use to give others some tea.

My problem is that I need to give them a means of preparing the tea. For the single serve group, I'm probably going to give them a mesh tea infuser (probably the clamshell one with a handle) I also have a handful of couples that I want to give a set or something to, but not break the bank.

Candidates:
- the personaliTEA - 21 oz teapot.
-A tea for two set http://www.enjoyingtea.com/cowhpoteaset.html
-An IngenuiTEA. (nice, but pricey, imo.)

Any other suggestions?

Also note, the gifts are all for non-tea drinkers.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know where to get simple solid white, handle-less, porcelain/ceramic, *thick-walled* teacups similar to the ones in chinese restaurants???

Thanks guys.

Asian grocery stores often carry the cups.

I highly recommend your local asian grocery store if you have one near you....you can usually find pretty nice and inexpensive sets that come with pots and cups. They also usually have some inexpensive and often pretty decent tea as well...mainly things like genmaicha and sencha....

You live in TEXAS right? They drink whiskey there right? Why don`t you buy yer friend a bottle of good old Jack, or you may call it Jacko.

One of the local Asian grocers here actually has some really nice cups that I might actually pick up the next time I'm there (they had a few different types, but the ones I liked were plain white, thick, with a flared lip). The point being to definitely check Asian grocers (to back up the others that already mentioned it) - you might be surprised what you might find.

If you're not sure that they'll want/use dedicated teaware, then you might get Adagio's empty teabags. They're huge, so they'll accomodate just about any full leaf tea. These might even be better than a tea ball (unless you get one of the really big ones).

I might add that asian grocers not only often have a nice selection of tea pots, tea cups and tea sets, but they are really inexpensive. Tea cups for less than a dollar. Tea pots for as little as $6.

Aye, I'm in Texas. I figured I'd give a gift that people can drink when they're *NOT* drinking whiskey. ;)

I wish there were more Asian grocers around here. I'm in the very bottom tip of Texas, so it's more Hispanic than anything. I'll look and see if I can find anything.

Thanks all.
