Those are some wonderful shots. I need to go borrow my dads Rebel X2 and get a few shots of San Diego. Its been a little since I played with SLR's but I think I can get some decent shots. I just need to get a decent tripod instead of the horrid monopod he has.

dpreview.com is a great resource. Lots of very detailed reviews and tests. I love the canon cameras and moved from a G3 to a rebel XT. The fold-out screen makes for a lot of fun and what I bought for my wife in her A320 or somethinglikethat...

Anyways, the rotating view screen gives you good shot perspective like:

And photostich does:

Always been a fan of the Nikons, although their customer service is, well, weak...but what large company these days gives a rats butt about customer service?! Recently upgraded to the Nikon D300. Brilliant camera esp when using Nikkor glass.

There are some really good cameras out there for lower prices. The new Canon Powershot Digital Elph - the SD 1100 -- is totally awesome. Also, the Canon S3 IS (the pro series) is great, and not too expensive, I think mine was about $350.

I'm stepping up to a Canon 5D for Xmas (that's a $2000+ step) but little cameras can do pretty well too. I shot this with my S3 IS:

I've just amazing photos with my $200 Digital Elph, too -- so don't despair if you can't get an expensive one!
