wait a second, teavana has the rarest tea that i can buy in north america?! what am i doing messing around with o-cha and hou de when i could just be going to the mall of america??
do you think if i brewed a blend of monkey picked oolong, silver needles, and strawberry slender pu-erh in a well seasoned tetsubin with a little of that german cane sugar on top that i would fall down dead in ecstasy?
i would try it but i don't want to spoil myself before i get my human-picked oolongs from hou de that i have to brew in a lousy gaiwan.

I tried both Teavana's and SpecialTeas' flavored greens and herbals and found Teavana's to be superior to those of SpecialTeas'. I think SpecialTeas just copy Teavana's blends and sell them under other names. I personally think Teavana does a great job with flavored teas, they are all high quality blends and are worth the price. I don't care for their other teas though.
Having worked at Teavana, I assure you its the other way around. Teavana teas come in all sorts of bags, with the original names on them. Teavana just renames them. SpecialTeas is the original. At least for half of them, the rest are custom mixed for Teavana, and not available elsewhere.Oolonga wrote:I tried both Teavana's and SpecialTeas' flavored greens and herbals and found Teavana's to be superior to those of SpecialTeas'. How do you explain the difference in taste and appearance of tea then? I had both samples on hand and examined them thoroughly...earthprince wrote: Having worked at Teavana, I assure you its the other way around. It could be several factors. Like mentioned, different batches. Perhaps one was stored better than another. Perhaps your tastes just prefer one over the other (everyone has different tastesOolonga wrote:How do you explain the difference in taste and appearance of tea then? Hey guys - just wanted to let you know I finally posted my story about working at Teavana. I figured this thread was specifically about another persons experience, and since my post is very long, it made more sense to make a new post.
