I'll be at home, but probably won't get to have as much tea as usual.

I've been so busy and stressed out today that I overbrewed everything but my morning cup of Irish Breakfast. Never got to drink any of it warm/hot, either! I'll have to change that in a bit.

In fact, it seems to have started already, a box marked "Best teas online" (Adagio)was literally heaved on my porch by the UPS driver's holiday support person. She gave it a toss, a good 6 feet in length as I watched it then slide on the ice forming from a wintery mix that has been falling all day and crash into a wall. Heh, the driver saw me, rolled his eyes, and waved. .
Holy moly, I hope nothing breakable.
They busted my leaves to pieces, Nice box of my favorite Adagio teas and the new GraviTEA! So far, my TeaGifts are on target!

Now where was I in my TeaDay. Enjoying Sencha Karigane currently.

Enjoying a successful session with Hachiju Hachiya Sencha. Don't know what I did different, but this time everything seems to be clicking. Maybe it's the Christmas spirit guiding me.

I was both home and away and still managed three cups of tea, so it was good. We visited two parts of my fiance's family today. I love visiting his family because everyone greets each other with a hug, even if you aren't related. It is always very friendly and happy and a lot of fun. There was no tea in the visits though the second stop had a delicious champagne punch with fresh raspberries in it.

Currently in my cup is some Hojicha.

Happy Early Christmas!

Salsero, did you use extra leaf? I brewed it strong and still consider it one of the best sencha I've ever tasted. Savor that stuff! :)

As always, I followed your directions religiously and doubled my leaf: 8.0 grams in 6 oz, 170° F, 90 s, 20 s, 30 s, 1 m, 2:30 m

Especially in the first infusion, it has the umami wollop almost as much as gyokuro. Very, very smooth and rich, not really grassy or vegetative so much as meaty. I find it quite a unique sencha.

My last cup of the day some Adagio White Symphony.
Closest thing I can get to a White Christmas!

Sounds like you nailed it. That first infusion is a religious experience. It's a shame Maiko is raising their prices in 2009. I doubt there were better values anywhere outside of Japan.

Wow, no wonder it packs a umami wallop!!! Sounds like a must try asamushi sencha.

Mugi/genmai to close the TeaDay.

I don't know if tea is going to figure prominently in my holiday, but I did bring along a selection of teas with me when I hit the road.
