by Chip » Dec 29th, '08, 09:39

Well, I have to say, this topic has gone much smoother so far than I expected.

a rant....

Meh.

I only apply this kind of logic to Stephane, because he unabashedly calls himself TeaMaster.
To me the original post sounds like an unfounded attack on Hobbes, who doesn't stand to gain anything from his blog anyway. If he said something (unconstructive) about Hobbes specifically, it would not have stuck for a second.

I'm surprised too. Maybe Tenuki thought he was diffusing the situation.
But actually caused confusion. Ranting about blogs is rather pointless.

HeavyDoom, as far as I've seen, has been capable of posting these "on-edge" posts, without showing much emotional attachment, and consequent heated words.

Tenuki... He doesn't think anyone is qualified to share opinions. It's this quirk that pisses me off. He would say "The internet is already full of 40-some year-olds sharing their unfounded opinions." But the truth is, he's on the forum, so he knows there's much to be gained simply by tuning into the opinions of others. He doesn't want to share his opinions, but he'll share his opinion about sharing opinions. All a bit pretentious and annoying. They're forums, blogs, they're made for this kind of thing. Stay away if you don't like it.

I'm sure I've seen tenuki air issues about bloggers before that were not hugely dissimilar to heavydoom's post.

At least it was titled 'rant', the only better name I can think of would have been 'poorly thought out brain fart'.

it's really hard for my mouth and tongue to analyze the layers of tastes found within the final brew. i don't know what to make of green pu's taste. [snip] yet, these bloggers who drink and review a particular cake, these tea bloggers do come up with all these wonderful sounding adjectives to describe the layers of tastes found with the tea.
Shit, sounds more like a compliment to me!

Sounded more sarcastic - "wonderful sounding..." A compliment would be just "wonderful" or, more likely, a synonym to "accurate." Somehow I doubt he's actually tried anything he's read about and tried to compare.

Hmmm, couldn't even capitalize his rants, seems like an insult in itself, but then again, he never does.

We were considering him for ITD at one time.
Maybe someone should PM him and ask him what the heck he means.

I wonder... is heavydoom the one that prompted this post by Hobbes? Also see one of the comments. The writing style looks similar.

It is almost certain. Heavydoom is the #1 fanboy of the Mengku factory, the complaint is the same, and I was pretty sure he was singling out Hobbes the entire time. Weak.
