Drinking some Xiang Luo, first time I've ever had it and the flavor is great but the smell of the tea leaves threw me off to say the least

Hmm, can't say I've ever traveled specifically for tea.. but I've traveled and bought tea! I do plan on visiting a tea shop in my area sometime when I get home.

I'm drinking some tea I just ordered from adagio.. vanilla rooibos. :)

Hi all... we are in very deep doo-doo here in western KY. major ice has taken out all electricity for miles around. trees are down everywhere... roofs, road, all over. we got over an inch of ice followed by several inches of snow and the weight on trees is enormous.

we held our breath at the constant gunfire sound of limbs cracking and trees falling every few seconds last nite. the 100+ yr old black oak in front of my parents house is now 3/4 down, missing their house by a hair. we have a generator but limited gasoline supply. no gas stations are open for 50 miles... no grocery or walmart either. we fear the water will be shut off soon... it is just a trickle now. we are limiting generator use to save gas, just enough to knock off the cold for a while and warm food.

with all this mess, I do at least have shelter, food, family, an intermittent cell signal and the blessed means to brew tea. so many are stranded with no heat or phone and no help. all the emergency shelters are full. if you believe in prayers or positive vibes or good wishes... there are many in dire straits here tonight... with power outages to last up to 2 weeks.

will try to check in when I can, if cellphone signal permits.
hugggs to all, stay warm.

sarah
***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

Sorry to hear about all the distress in your area. Ice storms are the worst. We've had blizzards dump 35" of snow with no loss of power, etc, just got to stay home a while. An inch of ice can reek major havoc.

Stay warm, stay safe, and our prayers are with you and others harder hit.

But at least you have your priorities in order, you visited TeaChat, using precious generator gas in the process. As long as you can still boil water, tea can offer you some relief.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I had to go to work - or not get paid (no benefits yet). The IndyGo busses are a horror here! We steer clear of them. I lived in Lafayette for 3 years and your public transportation wasn't bad at all. We're pretty clean here -- 65 was almost dry on the commute home.

Stay warm, study hard, drink lots of tea.

Red Rose is what I use for iced tea, it works great for that!

I haven't gone any more than 20 miles in search of tea or tea wares - yet!

Only time I was ever able to travel to get "good" tea was when a tea shop called "Steeps" was located here in Merchants Square in Williamsburg.....and all I have to do was walk about 5 mins. from my house......the rest has all been internet.....

*Right now Enjoying a cup of Organic Kumamoto Sencha Yabe Supreme from www.thejapanesegreenteashop.com
-Not bad....but not the best sencha I have had for $24/100g. Nice and sweet, but not the best.....I would buy it again, but a lot of others I would buy first.

Hey Nick, how are you brewing it? The owner says around (actually, he said more, 6 grams per 150 ml) a gram per ounce water and I tend to concur. If you use more leaf, it does shine.

O-Cha's new sencha, "Surugawase" is currently in my cup. Still working on finding the perfect sweet spot, but I can say this is quite different from other sencha. Just can't quite put it to words right now though.

Chip---I used 8g/200ml for about a minute........its a very decent cup......but, I had Toru from A.N send me some sencha that he picked up for me when he went into Tokyo a few weeks ago and it was $12/100g. and it puts a lot of stuff I have tried to shame....blows this sencha I am drinking right now straight out of the water and for 1/2 the price....also I can get away with using about 6g/200ml and get a really nice cup that holds out for several infusions.......whatever this sencha is that Toru sent me you cannot find online.......

Sarah, my thoughts go out to you and everyone else having issues from the storms.

The farthest that I have traveled for tea was about 17 miles from my house to the nice tea shop in Syracuse. That distance is now shortened by the fact that I am working less than half a mile from the above mentioned tea shop. I've gone on a few trips that were farther away in which I purchased something tea related, but those trips were not just for getting tea stuff.

In my cup currently is a blend of Vanilla rooibos, peppermint, and lavender.

Its been a mystery tea day as I worked through various unmarked tins of tea. I think I drank a feng huang dan cong from Teaspring, some sort of yancha, and a milk oolong.

Before I started working for Harney's I'd travel the 25 miles once a week for some good tea. Now that I'm there 5 (or 6) days a week I don't think it counts.

The last big trip was to The Tea Gallery in NYC which turns out to be a little less than 100 miles from my house.
