I don't know if we can take the suspense any more, Chip.....I think most of us are on the edge of our seats waiting for the official first tasting of the new bag.
Yutaka Midori was lovingly poured from the bag to 2 sample size Upton tins ... one for daily use, the other will be placed back in the TeaFridge after careful preparation.

6 grams was scooped out while the water heated. Excitement was building. What if this is just too high an expectation, anticipation.

Water preheats the Momiji Kyusu, specially selected for the event, then poured into into the water cooler.

Finally, leaf into the steaming/drying kyusu, covering it quickly, but a faint wisp of aroma escapes and fills my senses. Water almost ready, I lift the lid and smell the leaf. It is Yutaka Midori, no mistaking it.

Water pours over the leaf, instantly transforming it forever. I chose this kyusu for its fast pour, Yutaka Midori will NOT clog this screen even with a fast pour.

60 seconds later, the first steep of the first pot is poured and ready ... now I smell the brew, rich and full, sipping, slurping the perfect temp brew, rich and full, reminding me of gyokuro and sencha at the same time, nothing else like it. Still my all time favorite sencha.

Chip....dont you think such talk of YM is a little graphic???? I mean, lets keep this PG-13.....;)

*Maybe I can make a new show like how to catch a predator...........I can see the tea perpetrator caught on camera now....."I wasnt gonna actually brew it.....I was just gonna smell it and then put it away....I swear....this is the first time ive done this....." ;)

Mmmm, I am grooving on the most exotic tea I have had to date: the newly arrived Xiaguan FT "Mushroom Tuo." It is one of the Holy Flame series for the Tibetan market and the tastes get me thinking of a smoky tent on the high, cold Tibetan plateau with the smells of animals and leather saddles. Course, the unseasonably cold North Florida night helps create the illusion. Yummmm.

CHIP, did you ever think of writing as a career?
You certainly have a way with words. Very graphic word picture[s] in the paragraphs above. Wish we were there

I would also have to agree w/Nick's comments

Looking forward to the new Shincha arrivals and your take on them later this Spring

Yes that was incredibly Tea-rotic, Chip. I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke! But what I really need is YM!

Storm update... Power still off... now water is off. 9 people in a house with no running water... BIG fun. You have not lived until you've harvested icecicles to melt down to flush the potty. Now things are melting and we are making good use of the roof run-off.

I am soon off to hospital to stay and work for a couple of days. I neeeeed some hot tea... none yet today, trying to conserve drinking water... none to be had for 50+ miles.

Finally found my elderly aunt who lives in a nearby town... we had not been able to locate her since tuesday. She is safe in a Red Cross shelter.

Take care all...

Sarah
***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

Wow  Sarah, I'm glad you and your family are OK. I hope the weather keeps warming up for you!

I really like the spiced chai rooibos from trader joes. It's got some punch to it, but it's not bad for a bagged tea.
