Cha Wang Tai Ping Hou Kui looks terrific. It actually demands a larger gaiwan, because otherwise the leaves seem uncomfortably confined. It's like having a bowl full of beautiful, glossy seaweed.Chip wrote:Really tough call and great topic, Chamekke, but ultimately, I love the look of Chinese greens, so amazing. A top notch Long Jing is beguiling, or Cha Wang TaiPing Hou Kui? These two stand out in my mind at the moment. Zhu Ye Qing is another.chamekke wrote: What brlarson said![]()
Plus I really do have a thing for Long Jing leaves. They're very beautiful.

Geekgirl, your photographs have been exceptional. I especially love your use of vivid colours (such a joy to look at on these dull winter days!), not to mention their complementarity. That orange/green combo is not uncommon when wearing kimono
Thank you!

Thank you!

Thanks auggy and chamekke and sal. It sometimes seems a shame to "waste" the color of matcha on monochrome, when it is so vivid, doesn't it?

I love looking at oolongs; especially round Ali shan and rolled wuyi.
Opened a new tea this morning: Shizuoko sensha Kawane no Kaori from the Japanese Green Tea Shop. Jury's still out on this one. I enjoyed it but it did not knock my socks off. This evening, even as I type, I am satisfying an afternoon long craving for Yunnan Noir.....

Belated congrats on the bike, Caligatia. Remember to pace yourself! Bike riding is one of my favorite things (even when I am being hit by cars). What kind of bike did you get?caligatia wrote:Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on the bike. I've been on three short rides today -- short because my quads aren't used to the exercise.I'll get better, though.
I need to make some tea now. I think some single-estate Assam would be good...
Great TeaDay, but forgot to eat. So, next up was Adagio Sencha Premier, then O-Cha Yutaka Midori. And finally Tenho Fukamushi Organic from TJGTS!
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I did some reading last night. Apparently I'm trying to go up the hill by my house on too high a gear, and that's why I'm not getting very far. So I'm going to try it again today on a low gear. So yeah, trying to pace myself.Chip wrote:Belated congrats on the bike, Caligatia. Remember to pace yourself! Bike riding is one of my favorite things (even when I am being hit by cars). I got a used GT Aggressor 3.0 mountain bike, because it was in my price range and fit me. I like it so far...
