How much is too much tea?
As a newbie to the tea world, how much tea do most of you have on had at one time? If it only keeps a year or less, do you try to guage how much you will be using? Do you date your tea?! I know, stupid questions, but I was just wondering. I've been buying the sample sets of various teas to see what I like, and I don't want to go crazy here.

Depends what you mean exactly. In terms of puerh, theres a few people here that have more than a few lifetimes worth of tea stocked up. Beyond that I'm not sure, usually you wouldn't keep green tea stocked for too long on account of freshness, but I think those who have tea stocked for more than a year are actually ageing it rather than just keeping it stocked.CJluvsT wrote:As a newbie to the tea world, how much tea do most of you have on had at one time? I am more OCD than some, but I usually put a label with the name of the tea, when it was harvested (if I know), and when I got it and from what vendor. For pu'er, I keep a spreadsheet in google docs.CJluvsT wrote:As a newbie to the tea world, how much tea do most of you have on had at one time? I try to have at home about six months of my actual tea consumption for greens, one year for other teas.CJluvsT wrote:As a newbie to the tea world, how much tea do most of you have on had at one time? As you are new to tea, your tastes might change drastically within a few months, so don't buy too big quantities of tea right now. I would advise to buy 50gr (2oz) packages.
i think with experience, one tends to do better at selecting teas one actually wants to drink.
when i first forayed into online tea purchasing, at times I had 50 or 60 types of tea, half of which i didn't want to drink.
there's always going to be an element of risk with using a new vendor or trying something new, but well worth the reward- there are so many sketchy online tea vendors out there tho, for me, finding this forum really really helped in terms of locating the best shops. thanks all!
