Bought a *gasp* Teavana yixing! (No death threats please)

by ngower » Feb 15th, '09, 20:13

I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a Yixing to hold me off for a few months until I can get some bills payed off to get the Yixing and Kyusu pot(s) I've had my eyes on.

Anyways, here's the teapot:

Just curious as to what you think of it/if anyone's had experience with Teavana teaware.

Oh, and it's just going to be for blacks, and I'll clean it with boiling water after each use.

Also, anyone know of any good homeade solutions to a tea tray? I could go into the kitchen, buuuuutttt....that means I'd have to put some actual effort into this :P

That is very nice, I love the cups! I have a lot of teaware from Teavana.
In fact I have some glass cups on the way any day now.

DIY Tea Boards

by teaguy » Feb 15th, '09, 20:56

Hi ngower,

There are lots of non-tea tray options for you without banishing yourself to the kitchen. One option would be to use a 'tea board' - here's a link to one I made:

It's a bit more 'advanced' in that you can't slop water all over the place, but can also be a lot of fun. Or, you can just get a thick dishrag or towel to lay on the table, and brew on that. If you're using a teapot & serving pitcher, put a saucer under each one to catch the drips. When the saucer fills up, pour it off into a bowl or small vase/pot.

Here's a photo of what I'm talking about.

Have fun!!
