Great photos today from Sal, stanthegoomba, Victoria, and the Geek! Thank you all for taking the time to share with us!
I never really answered the topic question. Typically 3-4, most likely 3 which was my vote. Speaking of vote ... THE GAIWAN FINAL POLL IS NOW OPEN!
Recently finished a nice session of Yutaka Midori from O-Cha which was very good. I used a tad less leaf this time. Better than the best now, if that is possible.

blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

also love the leaf and flower cups posted by Herb_Master. I would just have to admire the flower cups- I don't think I would be too successful actually drinking from them.
It is not too difficult as long as you don't overfill them - the bits that stick out furthest sit quite nicely between finger and thumb!

Nice. Is it a regular size chawan? (ca 12cm 4"8 wide)
No, since it is a tapered side chawan, it is a little wider, 5.3". I think this is common for tapers, seems logical or it would taper to a very narrow bottom? Chamekke, is that right?
Yes, it's reminiscent of the Korean style called Ido, whose shape is based on traditional Korean tea bowls. Not quite as V-shaped, but similar. They can be fairly wide at the top, although they do not taper downwards as sharply as the tenmoku style does (cf. its very small foot).
So it's pretty wide, but not outrageously so

Usually a different cup for each tea I drink. I brew and drink my black teas in
this. Then I have a cup for sencha. And if I have an oolong I have a smaller cup for that.
Sencha overture right now.

I generally use two cups: my little green cup for anything brewed in my smaller kyusu or gaiwan and a larger cup or mug for black teas, herbals, and other teas brewed in my larger kyusu. Though I have comparable cups to the little green one, that one definitely gets used the most.
I had Yutaka Midori earlier today and am soon about to brew a cup of chamomile before I sleep.
