I used to drink a lot green tea, and would go for 8oz. steep, 5-8 cups per day. Now I drink more oolong, with 3-4oz steep, which produces 2-2.5oz water each cup, but then I would go for 15-20 small cups per day. So I found no matter what the steep size is, it doesn't affect the total volume

My average steep is over 6 ounces, most steeps being 6.8 ounces or about 200 ml, my normal sencha steep. Gyokuro, Chinese green, oolongs, etc are typically much smaller.
Started the day with Kabusecha from Yuuki-Cha, 3rd attempt and finding the groove for this new tea. SweeTea was grooving on it while Pyrit just hung out.
Next up, Uji teabag from O-Cha which was as always quite good, still my fave teabag.

blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
Thanks Smari! I just ordered cups from there! I missed those!
I did get my coaster there.
In my cup this afternoon a nice Pu.
Mild and slightly cinnamon.

Probably somebody already addressed this, but the following quote should answer your surprise:stanthegoomba wrote:Wow, most of you brew less than 4 oz? Even the Chinese who introduced me to gongfu used pots that were 150 ml, and mine are between 125-160. I didn't think that this would be the high end of the scale.
My guess is that a lot of people guessed.silvermage2000 wrote:I am not sure I guess less then 1 oz. I had some adagios valentines tea today.

Of course, in the meantime, it looks like things have evened out a little...

It's hard to say. I chose 6 oz as an average.
For sencha, my main kyuusu is 150ml (5 oz). Gyokuro about 80 ml (almost 3 oz). Most oolongs about 90-120 ml (3-4oz) per steep. Same with black teas I guess. About 4 nights a week I also make a 350 ml (12 oz) pot of Genmaicha.
Today I made Uji Sencha Miyabi a few times, and right now I'm on the third steep of a Wu She Gao Feng Oolong.

Yeah, I like those too (the organic Tsuen ones?), but was afraid to admit it.Chip wrote:Next up, Uji teabag from O-Cha which was as always quite good, still my fave teabag.

Probably less than 6oz for me. I sometimes brew 15oz or 16oz in a travel mug, but most of the other brewing is done in my 5oz kyusu or similarly sized gaiwan. Given that the amount of steeps done with either the kyusu or the gaiwan heavily outnumbers the amount of brewing done in the travel mug, less than 6oz works well for me.
I started today with Chestnut tea and ended it with six lovely steeps of Yutaka Midori.
