Since this thread is up right now I don't start a new one.
I want to try matcha for myself. I know there are some good matchas from yuuki-cha but there is also a German Internet vendor which seems quite good for Japanese stuff.
But because I've now experience and knowledge which matcha is good, I ask here^^
The have:
-Premium-Matcha "Ten" from Aichi
-Premium-Matcha "Kin no uzu" from Uji
-some other lower grade matchas from Uji
prizes are ok, since I have cheap and quick shipping.
Do you think it is generally good stuff?
I know it is difficult to say without trying;)

Some things can tell you if it is good before you buy, such as how open is the vendor about handling the matcha prior to selling, do they cold store, do they order frequently, not buying huge amounts and keeping it on hand for many months, etc. Is it 100% Japanese matcha!!!!!! There is matcha from just about every Asian country it seems.
But the final analysis is in the chawan, it would have to be handled first hand.
In the USA, it is not easy to find great matcha from domestic vendors, most aficionados go to vendors in Japan.

ok, have thought about this too. I think I order some matcha from yuuka-cha (any recommendations?) and get the teaware from the German vendor.
Without any breakable items I can order via Airmail and so it's not that expensive.
They have a cheap and nice bowl on the German site :
One more question^^:
Is there a big different between a 100 Prong Chasen and a 80 one?

Well it might be easier with the 100 prong to brew the matcha but both are OK for usacha.

All I know is I've got a cheap Chinese whisk, and it works fine.
