It's Chip's fault!

I like that set. The rust color on the rim really sets it off.

Bleh...
http://www.harney.com/matcha.html
Just looks so unappealing, the powder, the liquor. Can it taste as aweful as it looks?

In contrast, just opened this today ... Image

The photo is very representative of this higher grade organic. The taste was very unique, never had a matcha quite like it.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I just opened an email from Harney - and I immediately thought yuk - that looks horrible.

Chip, can you tell us about the new matcha, how is it different? I have been
looking at that one. I'm out of my O-Cha and all I have right now is a Lupicia I haven't opened yet.

Yeah, they do look big generally, especially with only a few ounces of water added. How big is big?
Haha@hot tub. It's 4.5 inches in diameter, 3 1/4 high - holds about 18 oz filled.

And what's that other stuff, mudcha?

I'd say that's about normal size for one. Although most of the time you don't fill it to the brim. I find the volume provides for more splash control than anything.

I can clearly taste the breed, I cannot tell if it is Okumidori(sp?) or Sameidori. They list the latter, but leaves the door open for others. The taste is pretty distinct to this breed, not like Gokoh which is also supposedly in this matcha.

The large bowl size is yet another good explanation as to why matcha is always better experienced in a chawan, so much of the bowl is exposed with only several ounces of matcha liquor. I cannot believe I used to use a cereal bowl.

Mudcha, what color is that stuff anyway, is it green at all. Each time I look at the liquor, I think I would have to be blind to even take a taste.

Funny thing is, they are having this expert guy from Japan do a tasting on the 9th of their Japanese teas. What will he say when he sees this? I would love to be there for that.

I have not had the Konjo, I look forward to hearing about it.

It's a bit like Kiri no Mori, only without the intense buzz. Texture on the tongue is less viscous, and flavor is more subdued.

The color is much more of an olive drab next to the vibrant green of Yame.
