White Tea / Green Tea Weight Loss Benefits

by teachat » Jun 8th, '05, 19:10

Would it be safe to say that whatever there is "in" green tea, or rather, whatever hasn't been as "processed out" of green tea, that provides the interesting weight loss assistance... might be present in white tea?

I have a really hard time drinking black tea and green tea. I believe it's a tannins issue. I'm more of a tisane person. But I've tried the white tea and don't seem to get headaches or stomach gurgles like I do with the more fermented varieties of tea.

Any information is much appreciated.

Thanks for the note.

The stomach aches are probably due to the tannic acid, which is most prominent in black teas. The headaches are probably due to higher caffeine levels, which is also most prominent in black teas.

White teas, on the other hand, have high EGCG (the chemical compound that is making tea so famous, for its many health benefits) and lower levels of tannic acid and caffeine.

This tea sounds like a good choice for you!

All the best,
