In case anyone is curious I heard back from the folks over at Sugimoto about releasing Temomicha for the US. What it sounds like is going to happen is that they're going to have an ordering period (preorder/reservation) where only if you order it during that time can you get it. It won't be regular stock or a traditionally carried item. They are hoping to release this in the spring with the new harvest.
I'm excited!

Wow, I am excited too!
Snafu, here is a blog post by the foremost US expert in Temomi-Cha.
(In fact, one of only two US experts. Chip, I gather, is the other.)

Yup, it's since the leaves are hand picked I believe. I know they're hand rubbed. (Unfortunately it makes the stuff quite expensive).devites wrote:Holy shiite those spent leaves are completely whole. I just ordered some sencha from Sugimoto USA last night, they have really good tea. I will definitely be ordering some of this.

I just got the word that Temomicha (now named Temomi Shincha) is available for preorder.
Temomi Shincha
Preorder ONLY! I.e. unless you preorder it you're not getting some. It's pricey, but it's worth it. This stuff is mindblowing.
