I had a nice pot of JayinHK's local Hong Kong teashop special blend Shou+Sheng.

The first puer I've felt like having for a couple of months what with moving and being sick and constant overwork.

It was nice to settle down and relax with a nice rich vibrant cup of tea.

it still depends on the maker. would a 7 gram pack of tea differ from a 100gram pack of tea if they are from the same batch?

on the other hand shu needs a bit more airing out, which is benefitted from smaller forms than sheng that might work better with an anoxic and anaerobic core.

Most of them were very cheaply made and targeted to people who want tea for immediate drinking. These will be for immediate drinking, but a tad...more...upscale.

yes :D 2015! i had several sanhetang sheng before, quite well processed that they are really nice and smooth to drink almost straight after production.

the funny thing is that just after i had pretty much gotten bored of sheng pu-erh and stopped pursuing nor drinking/buying, it unfortunately became incredibly easy for me to access and procure sanhetang's teas.
how ironic :X made me wished i started off my pu-erh journey with either yangpinhao or xizihao back then

quite well produced, no moldy flavours, it has a woody, date-ish base and there is a unique sweet after taste at the back of the throat after. should be really nice after a few more years of storage

Lao Man E 2014 from Tea Urchin. Fruity with a hint of bitterness and nice thick soup.

It's cool enough this evening for hot tea, and I'm enjoying some 2010 Pa Sha Zhong Zhai loose sheng from Norbu. Pleasant, lightly herbaceous, sweet, and a nice change from a week of cool brewed Taiwanese oolong.

Yes, that's the box design, except that the background color was much more white on the ones I mentioned. Shah--of course they might be fakes. Maybe I'll take photos of the actual tea next time. As an aside, my friend showed me a Haiwan brick that is a fake and compared it with a real one. The packaging is exactly the same but the tea itself is obviously different; the fake brick is smaller and is all twigs and fannings and a very faded color.
But the Kunming squares were a good color at least and I think I'll buy some. He bought 80 of them and paid under 10 USD apiece but that the Malaysian bulk price...

For my money I'd take the cheap one and enjoy the qi I can also imagine coming to terms with the taste if I had a more mindful than usual session. But I won't be buying any heavily compressed pu and wait for it to mature.
I have a few pieces of this likely 80s - 90s fangcha. It's the 100g one with squares; the seller's date doesn't totally jibe with what I think it should be based on Cloud's book (supposed to be mid-80s). Either way, it was stored with the cellophane still in the window, and still tasted quite bitter the last time I drank it.

I would not expect a fangcha to be date, I guess because I'm thinking of Menghai Factory fangcha, with its buddy blend. I do wonder if it's not essentially a 7581 sheng blend in fangcha shape. In any event...tea, such that it's any good, from '92 really should be sweet, hard compressed or not.
