Re: Official Pu of the day
Some humble 8592 with my breakfast. After just some sips my face starts to blush, the forehead starts tingling for a couple minutes and the body heats up pretty quickly. I have no idea what they do at Dayi; no other tea I've tried works this way; can't be the caffeine but this is just the right stuff to cope with the ongoing cr@p weather.

Re: Official Pu of the day
In Guangzhou and hit the tea markets today. Lots of sorting through chaff to find good stuff here. Spent hours there today and found some lovely dry storage 2007 7572 and a single nice modern zini teapot. That's after trying a dozen teas and examining hundreds of pots. I might stay here another day and hit the markets again as there is so much to sort through!

In April last year I got a sample of this one but at the time I did not enjoy it. Maybe I should get a sample to try it again.CheekyChipmunk wrote: My pleasure! Now that I think of it, I also really like the 2013 'Wu Liang Ye Sheng' also from YS:

It doesn't have the same age on it as the other one but it's a great all rounder with brighter and higher petroleum notes, a very well balanced smoky element that gives way to the earthier flavours before finishing with a lasting hui gan.

This one is definitely worth a try as well IMO:CheekyChipmunk wrote:

I've had some cakes in storage for a few months and the taste profile changed pretty rapidly in the meantime. What amazes me most about this tea are the dynamics and the durability, I managed to get about 15 interesting steeps out of these relatively young leaves - they just kept giving and giving.

Thanks for the tip, I've added it too my bulging wishlist I have going on the site...
I'm yet to try one of Scott's offerings that doesn't interest me in some way!

Yes, that is a very nice one. I have one of these cakes in storage after I tasted a sample I had received.

I like the smoky and powerful purple teas, but this one has a depth and complexity of flavour that I haven't come across in others... At this price its a bit of a steal really
Someone also recommended this from a website unrelated to tea as such(http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads ... tea.96639/) and yesterday I added it to my wish list.

2016 CYH Mahei from TeaPals - smooth, thick and slightly sweet. Just like what Cwyn said in her blog post a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Official Pu of the day
Today I'm enjoying some 2007 Zhen Si Long 'Autumn Harvest Yiwu' from YS. It's in a nice spot at the moment. The soup has a nice viscosity, smooth and lubricating. Aside from the pure clean flavours this is a highly aromatic affair, with florals dancing in the mouth after the tea has been drunk and a faint but sweet hui gan appearing some time afterwards. The chi of the tea is not invigorating but rather leaves one feeling grounded and mindful. I find it hard to drink this tea and perform other tasks at the same time, it always seems to draw me in and demand my full attention.
Re: Official Pu of the day
Got home too late and too spent to pay much attention to what I drink. Slugging a shu pu 7692. I'm not a shu guy; too much of the tea taste goes missing in tne process but this is an inoffensive drink.

Last night a buddy and me enjoyed some of Oli's (greenteaguru) 2004 Menghai Grade 3 loose shu. I'm not much of a shu man but this stuff is actually pretty darn good and a nice match for the ongoing bad weather. Actually I've been drinking so little shu over the years that I still have some of the ripe CNNP cakes that I bought on my first trip to Yunnan in the late 90s. High time to dig them out and see how they have aged in the meantime.

Re: Official Pu of the day
I've been enjoying a some good sessions with puerh recently, and this weekend I had a terrific session with Fall 2010 Pa Sha Zhong Zhai loose sheng pu from Norbu. It has just a touch of funk at the beginning, then is sweet, herbaceous, mellow, earthy, just lovely. I found it hard to end the session and move on to other tasks away from the tea pot.
Yesterday, I set up two thermoses of tea for a day at the satellite office, expecting a very long day, but didn't have to break into the second thermos of my beloved 2009 Lao Cha Tou shu brick from Norbu. It sat overnight, and today I am 'refreshing' with about 25% water off the boil into each cup, and it is so rich, plummy, fruity, earthy, deep, with a thick body that feels so satisfying that I am in heaven. Moments like this I wish I'd bought a dozen more bricks of it....but I still have several in store, and have found fine nuggets from other sources so I know this is not a once-in-a-lifetime, never-to-be-repeated experience. I've had equally wonderful experiences with fine shengs at time, but really none better than this Stanley-thermos-brewed masterpiece session.
