2008 Yi Wu Bamboo aged sheng from Norbu today--a lovely tea put through a tea torture test: Fill kettle with water. Pour some (cold) over chunk of tea in kamjove. Let sit a few seconds, pour off rinse water. Add more water, now slightly warm. Let sit while doing things in another room for 45 minutes. Return, pour off first cold infusion into thermos, add boiling water, leave for a 1 hour meeting. Return, and pour hot water through the leaves rapidly while tossing papers together for afternoon clinic on another floor. Thermos filled with water, all of which has touched the leaves, at least. Will it be good? And it is!
Gotta love this stuff.

If shu, I think that's a 90s 7572, or a "reproduction" thereof. The ones I've seen in person were brighter yellow, though.TIM wrote:

He's talking about Dayi Secret Fragrance from 2007. There was both a sheng and shu version.
Dass, the issue is that the Secret Fragrance is a better shu, relative to its peer shu than the sheng, relative to other shengs. I don't doubt that the sheng is delicious, though.

If I am not mistaken,Long run still has this for sale.Its a good tea but too bad I do not like cooked tea so I did not buy it but I bought the RAW version of this.

Lovely 2006 Yong De Hand Braided Wild Arbor Pu Erh Tea today from Norbu. This was the end of the sample I got, and to drink more of this lovely stuff, I will have to start breaking up the beautiful beeng. I will need to take some good photos before I start that, but it is so delicious that it will not survive long as simply beeng art. Sweet, caramel, anise, gentle earthy sweet humus, mmmm.

A rare gongfu session with the Menghai Golden needle white lotus 2007 brick, and it is impressive how marvelously it carries forward a rich sweet caramel-rich flavor with bits of apricot into the late infusions.
Perhaps it's a good thing it's so hard to pick apart, or I'd be out of it already.

Just saying that if there are malaysian deals, this probably is a pretty good one to buy. To my tastes, this is, overall, better than Dragon Pole '09 or Ziyun--tho' the age difference is a consideration.

2nd round with the same leaves of the 2007 white bud sheng puerh from Norbu. Using a small yixing, lots of tea, very hot water, short infusions now extending longer. Delicious as always.

auhkw, if you find 2007 Secret Frangrance shu, sample it, buy it.
1) The swallow is kinda notable, feels alot like raw oysters going down.
2) Doesn't have a standard Dayi taste--basically a kind of soil-wood-lotus-coconut/milk. Not very strongly flavored, but actually has some complexity.
3) Qi is very, very good for a shu
4) The finish is extremely long for a shu, flavors can change on the tongue and last in the mouth. Huigans/slight houyuns have happened on occasion.
5) Fragrance is slight, but interesting when you sniff hard.

Had some 2006 Liu An from Teaspring. It was quite good, and quite different.
Currently brewing some 2007 Dayi Yunxiang Shupu. I'm a big fan of the aroma of this one, even if the taste isn't anything special.

2006 dayi high mountain raw
Had some of this from the left over samples in a tea shop. Liking it. Has a unique taste compared to the usual dayi taste. Too bad no more stock for it. Reminds me of the Qiu Xiang 2004 Raw which is cheaper and older too.
I had some samples of the 2008 dayi high mountain raw, somehow i feel it is totally 2 different kind of tea though it has same name. Maybe it is because of the 2 years different, but I feel it doesn't come near at all... hmmm... I should probably retry again the 2008.

Quite ok, not drinkable now. Nothing fancy...

Liking it. I may buy it on the next visit.
