Cool pot, phoenixK.
I'm always a sucker for any pot with animals, stick a little fish or dragon or what have you on top and I'm sold.

Clay: Di Cao Qing. Medium High Fired.
Size: 40 ml
Age/Year: Modern
Walls: Thick
Pour: +/- 6 sec. No drips. Perfect lid fit.
Source: Yixing Collector Acquaintance
Tea Pairing: Aged Yan Cha or Aged Sheng Puerh (Still making up my mind)
Info: This tiny Xiao Pin Drop Ball is beautifully handmade with some exquisitely smooth Di Cao Qing clay. It has a flat 7 hole strainer and has the most perfect arcing pour I have ever seen on a teapot of this size. The clay seems to hold on to the aroma of the tea quite readily even after washing it out with hot/cold water multiple times. Makes one of the clearest and most alive brews of aged oolong, especially the very old Shui Xian variety. I have been reading through thousands of posts for a few years now but this will be my first post so I thought I would introduce myself with a Xiao Pin because they are my favorite, especially with aged teas in particular.

Clay: Hei Ni. Low to Medium Low Fired.
Size: 70 ml
Age/Year: 1980's
Walls: Thick
Pour: +/- 4 sec. No drips. Usual 80's lid fit.
Source: Purchased at Vancouver Tea Shop
Tea Pairing: Aged Sheng Puerh over 20 years
Info: I have heard many horror stories about fake or chemical treated black clays claiming to be Hei Ni and was very hesitant to even attempt to buy this type of clay. However, when I had a talk with the proprietor of this tea shop in Vancouver and he assured me that it was from the 80's and was the real Hei Ni and the pictures show the silvery mineral flecks, especially on the inside. I figured I would give it a try since the price seemed right for a clay of this rarity. Then, when I saw that it was a three legged Shui Ping, that was the icing on the cake as I love all Shui Pings and the feet are just an added bonus to me. It was worth all the hype and much more as Hei ni is now in my top 3 favorite clays after Mou luni and 70's Zi Sha. It has very similar qualities to these 2 clays, especially the Zi Sha, although it does seem to be even a bit more porous and it took a few months of seasoning to finally stop taking a lot away from the tea but now it produces smooth and amazing brews of aged wet (traditional Hong Kong) stored sheng puerh.

Thanks gasninja,
I feel the same way. It has always been one of my favorite shapes and I've only seen two 100 ml sizes that both slipped by me and were bought by somebody else. But when I saw this tiny one I knew it was a rarity and bought it immediately. The clay I'd top notch as well!

Clay: 1970's C.R. Zi Sha. Medium. Coal Fired, Factory Kiln.
Size: 93 ml
Age/Year: 1973 (Cultural Revolution)
Walls: Thick
Strainer: Single Hole
Pour:+/- 6 sec. Straight & smooth. No drips.
Source: Tim of The Mandarin's Tea Room
Tea Pairing: Aged Sheng Puerh (1989 & prior only)
Info: This is a beautiful 93ml, 1973 Culture Revolution, Factory coal fired, Orchid ShuiPing Zisha. The clay is very similar to the 66 ml "Please Drink" series teapot that my friend Tingjunkie posted on page 25 of this thread as I was told by Tim but all C.R. pots' clay vary slightly. It is very thick and really pushes a lot of heat into my aged puerh. The extremely sandy Zi Sha rounds out the more sharp notes or I guess you could call them traces of youth, while at the same time thickening the mouthfeel to more of a syrupy consistency. Also, this type of clay seems to season very fast and is picking up a patina much quicker than any of my other types of clay besides my Mou Lvni shui ping, which is very close but seems to be slightly higher fired.

Three pots I got from Cheng Shouzhen's studio:

Old duan ni, 80s di cao qing and zi qie ni, in that order.
100mL
Multiple hole filter
Fast pour
Thick walls
High-end ripe puerh
And three degrees of a Xi Shi pot:

Qing shui ni, modern zhu ni and zisha, in that order.
1. 80mL, multiple hole filter, medium pour, medium walls, young raw puerh.
2. 100mL, multiple hole filter, fast pour, medium walls, Wuyi rock tea.
3. 140mL, ball filter, fast pour, medium walls, roasted TGY.

Very nice Bagua7. Three Xi Shi's are better than two right? lol. I realize this is not tea related, but I was just curious what the motivation was behind your username. Do you train in Bagua Zhang or have an affinity for it? I apologize in advance if you have already answered this in an earlier post!
