Yeah plain Banko is a great buy, for the price it can't be beat!. Agree with Tead on his assessment of Hokujo clay. Its really nice stuff.

Sorry to break the thread but here's my new Kyusu
Balance in the hand on this pot is superb. Not used this clay before but really like it. Its more subtle then Nosaka and far less rounding. Its got a 20 hole direct filter at 160ml and its taller shape makes all Sencha easy in it. Its got no inside rim around lid so clean up it also simple.

I've held off buying a rear handle pot until one came by I couldn't pass up. Well worth the wait!

Nope try again!!! Akira used to sell his pot though not as natural clay but standard blended back in the day.
I confirmed the name of the artist with Akira. Although I knew from the pic. And I know Chip will know who it is straight away. I also have another juicy bit of info

I am brain dead from an insanely hilly bike ride. I too would have guessed a weird clay Tachi based on shape, lid attachment, etc.
So that is not it.
The clay clue makes me consider Gisui. But this does not ring true to me.
Yamada Sou. There was recent discussion on Yamada Sou and clay which leads me down this path.

It seems like a great collaboration. I love the forms of his tea pot. My only reservation is his filters can be a little hit and miss for me. Love the texture of the clay. Hojo commented that the picture is showing the clay too red.

Had to increase the number of kyusu owned with today's post....using the term here strictly to refer to a side-handled teapot...now the total is 6.
Thanks to kyarazen for this Shimizu Ken Nosaka clay beauty, which is a petite and unassuming lefty pot (yay!) with a lovely effect on green teas. Enjoying this morning with some O-Cha Gyoku Hou, and Shawn McGuire's snowflake yunomi for pleasing contrast.
It shares the limelight generously with the teacup
And it doesn't have a bad side
It's deep red/orange is a sweet backdrop for deep green gyokuro, although this still doesn't quite capture the rich shade of the clay

i have serious TAD (teaware acquisition disorder) and unfortunately do not do justice to many of the pots i have glad it is in good hands and brewing up good tea for you!
