happy new years !

unloaded the first firing of 2014. challenging . learning all the time. the top was a bit cool, ken kang suggested i add another burner like his amazing set up. will do and fire again. this should do it.

enclosed is a large guinomi (almost yunomi) from the firing.

i had a several saggars that produced some amazing results i think. used a friends indonesian indigo plants/flowers. got some fun results.

here's a saggar fired piece, fired in a closed ceramic container w/ lid. combustibles are placed within and voila ! a mystery until it comes out !

here's one for you ! fired my 2nd kiln. sort of a prototype kiln for me with the amazing help w/ making my burner shout out thanks to ken kang !

2nd firing was less dry, got more movement of the surfaces, will add 2nd burner as ken suggested and uses.

That was a delightful mailbox arrival - it's a lovely, creamy little piece, wonderful quiet blues, soft and perfect in hand. It's quickly become a favorite. And this one's delicious, Cory! I love the gentle swells and undulations of your forms, very flowing and balanced.
Go like water.

Been lurking in Chinese Yixing teapot, just clicked on the link incidentally by my Teachat fellow debunix...

After viewing the collections of your work...gotta say they look some kind of an art form

The colors of the glazes are beautiful, with hints of wicked ideas, more importantly your Hawaiian heritage is reflected in every pieces. As if they are equipped with a unique style.

Even among Yixings, that is the highest stage of making and appreciation as I'm told. Not many potters can demonstrate their own styles that can satisfy and inspire serious collectors of Yixing teapot.

Of course there are many points in appreciating, whilest there have been stylist as Van gogh, Picasso or Chopin...or even Lv Yao-chen or He Dao--hong of Yixing...there are also masters like Gu Jing-zhou who tried to remove own style and created the whole Yixing style. Gu Jing-zhou is a master who makes Shi-piao (shape of Yixing teapot), the most Shi-piao-like. Meanwhile Lv Yao-chen or Shi Xiao-ma are genius of creation.

I've mummured too much....just wanted to say good and would love to purchase of your pieces in future

Wonderful -10 minute video of Cory throwing and trimming chawan. He makes it look easy. Ha!
He has such a sweet energy, too - which expresses itself in his work. I have only one small piece by him but it's just so very graceful, balanced and... happy. That sounds ridiculous, but it really is; it lifts my spirits to use it. Watch the vid and you'll see what I mean.
