That's cool. And thanks is what the symbol means?
Do you know what the other side says?
The red symbol on the front is the name of a pu'er tea factory, and is actually two characters with one on top of the other to make their logo- "Da Yi" which loosely translates to Great Benefit. On the back side from right to left are the characters Da Yi (I honestly don't know what the third character is, hopefully someone can help out with this one) Cha. So Great Benefit something Tea.
All right, I think this one is written English-style? (left to right). That character (有) in Japanese is the one meaning "existance" or to "have." It's the "ari" in "arigatou."thanks wrote:The red symbol on the front is the name of a pu'er tea factory, and is actually two characters with one on top of the other to make their logo- "Da Yi" which loosely translates to Great Benefit. So... Tea exists for a great benefit? Using the Da Yi name in a phrase? Just a stab.
I only say it's written left to right because of the ordering of Da Yi........
But neato gaiwan nonetheless

Edit: I should add --
茶 有 大 益 is cha you da yi, left to right (if i can believe my translator, hehe)
Cha you da yi is how you read this one -- Tea has great benefits, quite literally, or, more prosaically, There is Dayi in Tea.
Anyway, since this is a teaware thread.... I posted this on my blog already, but for those who haven't seen it...

A pure tin kettle. Not really good for heating water, I think. I'm guessing it was for warming sake. The finial on the lid is a nephrite ring.

I got a teapot made by Chen's father a couple of days ago. Due to technical problem, I cannot have my pictures automatically loaded on my post. Here is a link to my pictures:

It's about 200cc. Yes, I have seasoned it and tried it. I'm still in the process of getting used to it though. On the whole I'm please with what I got and the piece does show some very good workmanship.Herb_Master wrote:What size is it?apache wrote:I got a teapot made by Chen's father a couple of days ago.
