Bagua, can I call you "Baggy?"
Sorry for the late reply. This was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Many of the shops are along one street in China Town (I think the east side of the Chinatown square), though some great shops are scattered about as well (thanks to auhckw for leading me to some great spots!).
Higher level pots are sometimes good deals, but often the same or more than I think they would be in Taiwan or China, but it is the mid-range and cheap pots that are knock-your-head-off deals. I saw a set of 5 shui ping hu, 10-years-old clay of mediocre quality and mediocre craftsmanship (but not at all bad!), 1 of each main clay type, selling for just shy of US$100! I think that is a sweet deal!
I have only seen modern zhuni here for cheap (brownish), and they run anywhere from US$100ish on up. The nicer, oranger and older zhuni pots go for similar or higher prices than they do in Korea, and I as I understand USA/China/Taiwan. I looked at some really old zhuni pots in Melaka today, and they were all about $600-700 for old but not master pots. By old I was thinking they were 20ish years, maybe 30, but I don't know!
My favorite zhuni pot ever was about 150 or 200 cc, made by a Master, and was old zhuni, about 10 or 15 years old, in Korea. It was about US$600, which I think is very reasonable for the clay quality and the craftsmanship! I miss that pot. I have haunting dreams about that pot....the one that got away....
