Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!

Hi everyone !

I do not post often. The fact is that I have a little collection of Hagi ware of my own. Maybe it is time to share some photos.

Here are some of my Nakao Tatsuaki's cup. He is a new artist in the Magokorodo selection. His style, the Galaxy glaze (Ginga-yû) is quite a wonder for the eye. There are 5 styles of this glaze, shown in the picture below.

Using one of his cup is unique experience, one I recommend. First, it weighs almost nothing which is quite incredible and odd when it is hot. It is not easy to describe the sensation. One cannot forget that he is using such an object. It attracts the eye whether it is in one's hand or on the table.

I hope my photos could begin to describe the joy I feel when using it.

Here it is. Behold the Spring Galaxy glaze cup ! :D

Wow, beautiful! I have just begun watching this artist, looking for the right piece for myself. I am looking forward to owning one. Thanks for sharing!

I can't believe I read the whole thing!
I am now looking to buy my first hagi, and thinking of trying to replicate (TRY) when I get back to the wheel in September.
David, that glaze is so beautiful! Does anyone know if that's a crystal glaze? How do those galaxy-like circles appear?

Yes, it is definitively a crystal glaze. But my knowledge ends here I am afraid. I am sure that you can contact Hidehisa from Magokorodo for further details. He is very passionate about his work and knows a great deal.

I have no impulse control... I walked into Makari just to take a look around, and walked out with this beauty by Gaku Kuroda.

I honestly want to know where you find pieces like that to browse through in the United States should you even be in the US at the time of purchase?

Either way, great find!

Or better yet, tea?

David, I remember seeing those, are they Hagi? They seem so ... unHagi-ish  Thank you for sharing them with us. More to come we hope!

That's a nice guinomi. Color is great. Was it very expensive? I use my Hagi guinomi for high grade green tea.
