currently drinking "taste of kyoto loose leaf sencha" This is one AMAZING sencha, it's an Okumidori, chumushi steam from Kagoshima. It's organic and and looks deceptively commercial in the packaging. Don't let the package fool you this is some TOP GRADE LEAF. The taste is thick and briny with an umami upfront flavor that is like a good slow cooked stock. Yes it is that mouth watering. it also has a lot of depth going on, sweet and slightly and heavy with the vegetal content, not so grassy but still tastes extremely fresh considering it's from last years harvest. I give this 4.5 out of 5, I would love to hear what someone else thinks of this, as it is a local san diego company and I don't know who else might have immediate access to it (of course you can order online).

I am located in Michigan currently. But due to my intended career path I could end up moving quite a few times before becoming more settled, so we may get that chance in the next 8 years or so.

@ Adam, well your always welcome to visit my tea space, I also have friends in ann arbor and a few other places in michigan.

Today I am enjoying a cup of Magokoro, a deep steamed yutaka midori. has a very rich, sweet and slightly floral finish. Drinking it out of my new, Kashun cup.

Xu Fu Long Ya .. from Teaspring
Harvest Period:
Spring 2012 (First Flush)

allegedly
The tea leaves are hand-plucked by Miao Minority young ladies with small hands and fingers in the middle of February every year and processed by Xu Fu Tea Industry’s best tea masters.
so, my first ThisYearsTea ever, to my knowledge ..

the box it arrived in had been opened and re-tied up with string, but wasnt actually re-sealed properly

it did seem to arrive more promptly than many shippings from the East, and also Teaspring sent a 'is it there yet/did u like it' followup email

At the moment I'm drinking "Organic Kagoshima Sencha Asatsuyu" from yuuki-cha

Using quite a high leaf to water ratio and 60c water then bumping up the temp a little and amount of water for the rest of the brews. Umami taste is so strong in the first brew it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. This is probably my fav tea from yuuki.

Alex I haven't tried that one you sure do make it sound appealing! Right now I am drinking some Kirishima no kaori, from yuuki cha, I really enjoy this tea a lot, 1 gram to 1 oz @ 70c

Fuku from Zencha OTTI from Kagoshima this AM, really stellar! I was not crazy about this one at first, but having refined the brewing (should have just listened to Zencha), it is reminiscent of Yutaka Midori ...

Likely an all Zencha sencha TeaDay today!
