Where is this from?
Jing has tgy around that price range, and they use A ratings too, I wouldn't say those AAA are bad quality and they are the same price range as your friends

I'm having a terrific session with '10 winter lishan from FLT.

This may be the best I've ever made it, and I really didn't change anything.

Boiling water over the leaves lightly covering the bottom of a 100ml Gaiwan.

1st: 55 secs
2nd: 45 secs
3rd: 55 secs (then adding about 15 sec per subsequent steepings)

The aroma is crisp and bright. The broth is round and deep. Very smooth and what I think people call "buttery." There is also occasionally a refined spiciness. It's fleeting and peripheral; not nearly as pungent as black pepper, but it seems like a faint, weak, light pepper. The tea is very soothing to the membranes in my mouth.

Drinking the highest grade DHP from Teaspring; they call it Cha Wang or something. I'm a bit unimpressed at the price they are charging. It's extremely heavily roasted, to the point where the first few infusions are completely black.

Need to give this another try before I completely pass judgement.

Purple Cane's 'Jin Suo Shi' - "Real Rock Golden Key"

Lightweight on flavour, better than the last time I brewed it, but I am still not impressed - too delicate for my tastes.

I just got a very nice surprise present from a Chinese friend! He is no tea drinker but he got two small packs of tea from his friend from Fujian, and donated them to me after he heard of my interest for tea :)

The first one is a Tie Guan Yin, the small golden bag is marked "Yuyuan's Tea" and "Gold version", and there are some Chinese characters supposedly saying Tie Guan Yin. I just had a cup, it is very good!

The other one is supposedly a Wuyi Da Hong Pao, in a small red bag marked "Huangjiachali". My friend says that the writing on the top says "Emperor quality" or something like that.

Sorry for the horrible image quality from my mobile phone, but does anyone recognise and know more about these?

Just finished a very sweet seventh steep of ali shan Oolong from fall '10 (FLT)

Higher leaf to water ratio recommended. I believe I wrote before about how intact the leaves are. Very nice to look at.

I find that I really enjoy drinking oolong tea from whisky glasses. The ones where the opening has a smaller circumference than the bowl. These glasses are designed to hold aroma for "nosing" whisky. They can be had on the cheap also.

I'm drinking a very nice green TGY. I'm on my 5th steeping, and it still tastes awesome. This is my first oolong (actually, probably my first high quality tea brewed properly), and now I'm excited to try more.

I just had about 4 steepings with my wife of aged (90's) taiwan Pindong from Hou De.
This was my second session with this tea.
Fruity, a bit of wood at the edges, with distinct notes of vanilla in the later steepings. I think I prefer the 90's bao zhong I've been drinking, but this one is much more durable. The Bao Zhong seems to peter out pretty quickly, while I achieved 8 or 9 terrific steeps with the pindong last night. I took some photos, hopefully I will be able to post them later.

Some high roast traditional SX wu yi chao zhou style in a pot. After a few more sessions with this I might do another review with pics as I'm really enjoying my first one. :)

edit: After 8 infusions the strength seems to be peaking and I'm flying high.

Can't believe I got it together to actually upload a photo.
This 90s pindong is nice from Hou De. Anyone had the fresher version?
The dry leaf looks better in person.

wu dong old bush shui xian, very nice, slightly roasted, reminds me of wuyi with a bit of the buttery aftertaste of some tie guan yins.

Continuing to work through my recent TeaSpring order. I gave the TLH a shot last week and it did not disappoint. Excellent mouthfeel but it could've lasted a bit longer.

Today I opened a 15g pack of their Diao Yu Tai Te Gong DHP. It all fit in my 100ml gaiwan rather easily, so I used it all. It's really quite lovely, lots of plum fruitiness with a dark chocolate finish, even some sharp tobacco notes sneaking in. Reminds me of a roasted TGY.
