Maybe we should create a topic named "Group Therapy for Hagi Addicted People" or "Hagidicted Anonymous."

LOL I was just going to ask how you guys deal with your Hagi addiction.David R. wrote:Maybe we should create a topic named "Group Therapy for Hagi Addicted People" or "Hagidicted Anonymous."
I find myself looking more and more into Hagi ware and there is so much beautiful stuff out there and random googleing will find other people's Flickr albums showing off never before seen glazes and shapes.
It's really hard not to just buy everything

And I am still new to this! How's it going to end?!
It's just such a joy having my sencha out of my Hagi cups (especially the SO12!) that it's hard not to want to expand the collection.

There is only one surefire way to beat Hagi-addiction and that is to purchase more Hagi. When you have them all, then you will be cured.

Its just the lighting. It is a Deishi Shira hagi Guinomi. I rather like its size, its bigger than any other Guinomi I currently have.Victoria wrote:Wow! Beautiful! Potter? Is that blue, or just the lighting?
Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
I was thinking Deishi, but the box looks different. Very cool.
I love the size of a larger guinomi, perfect!

Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
I have two other Deishi Guinomi and they actually look similar in terms of writing, and the stamp is most certainly very similar. I only wish I could read Japanese calligraphy as easily as I could read roman script. But I actually really like the appearance of this piece the ore and more I look at it.Victoria wrote:I was thinking Deishi, but the box looks different. Very cool.

Really nice one Adam! The shape and size is a lot like the earlier Deishi Biwa guinomi I purchased around 2 years ago. Holds more than most guinomi!
Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
As requested on the Chat by Chip, the Foot of my latest Hagi piece.

Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!

I know a few of us have Choun pieces, well at least Chip does, I have noticed certain unique features of my Choun piece. Its a slightly bad photo but I tried to show how seemingly awkward this piece is staining. It has not done this all over yet but the glaze is so different than most hagi pieces that I wondered how it would stain, and this for now seems to be the answer.

Adam,
How many sessions and how many steeps would you say?
Looks cool in the photo.
Yeah, love Choun the man and the kiln. I have purchased 3 generations now.

Probably about 70 or so steeps, perhaps more, its been used for every single Gyo session, and all my late night sencha sessions. I should say that it is odd as it doesn't so much look as though the cracks are staining as the area right around the cracks is staining.Chip wrote:Adam,
