Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
Some inexpensive but decent Rou Gui from grandtea. I'm really liking this new pot for dark oolongs I got last weekend in Vancouver.

The Tea Galleries Highfire TGY, is a bit nicer tasting than the last time I had it.

Finishing a very nice session with a Honey Orchid Dan Cong from Tea Habitat. Floral, spicy, sweet, changing infusion by infusion, but all of it interesting.
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
I just finished up the overnight cold brew of yesterday Ba Xian from Hojo, which was a mind blowing experience for me...
The most expensive tea I ever had, which hopefully was also the best tea I ever tasted.

50 years old high mountain oolong (courtesy of OldManTeapot).

This was bought by him when he was at Taiwan.
This is the first time I tasted such an old oolong. How does it taste? Very similar to those 'Lao Wei' / old taste (woody) puerh. You probably wouldn't know it is oolong, if wasn't told so.
After drinking this, it basically covers away all the previous tea that we had earlier. There isn't much aftertaste on the throat. The taste is more on the inner mouth area. But after drinking this, even breath has the 'Lao Wei' and lasted so long. Feels so good...

Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
some aged and roasted TGY, mmmmmmm, this pot really sweetens and rounds out roasted teas and it is small enough that I don't need a sharing pitcher with my small cup.
WINNING!!!

Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
I'm tearing into my stash of heavy oxidized Tie Guan Yin. Compared to the light TGY's, this is much more suitable to my taste. The complex notes and less floral aroma just begs for another steep.

Single brew Dan Cong from Puerh Shop. I need a smaller gaiwan. This stuff keeps going and going. Nice peach aroma on the first few infusions.
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
I'm hitting the ol' harbor tea again. Infusion number 9 is going to take a little more than a half hour, but should be very full flavored.

The best TKY I had was from my good friend. He bought it from Taiwan which won the TKY competition. The tea tasted just perfect. Do tea drinkers prefer TKY from Taiwan or China?

Good question. I have only had Chinese TKY.takchi11 wrote:The best TKY I had was from my good friend. He bought it from Taiwan which won the TKY competition. The tea tasted just perfect. Do tea drinkers prefer TKY from Taiwan or China?
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
I prefer Chinese TGY (both green and high fire) to the Muzha TGY competition Mr. Takchi refers to.

I'm having some Old Style Tie Guan Yin Anxi Oolong 2009 from Seven Cups Tea. Man, there is a lot of bang for your buck here. This tea just keeps going and going, highly recommended!
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?

Today, a photo homage to The_Skua. Hard light, long shadows, warm tones.
The tea is a Wuyi I had some months ago, I didn't think much of it, so I sat some out in a cha he for awhile to see what would happen. Drinking it today was not that inspiring, until steep 4 or 5. After the cup cooled off, it was remarkably honey sweet.
For your next oolong session, try to copy the style of another TeaChat photog you like? Or just try a radical departure from your own style.
