Sadly I do not think I do, and it is really hard to see in the photo I took, but it is much more apparent in person, it looks a bit like water got sucked in through the cracks and is stuck between an outside glassy glaze and the underneath creamy colored glaze, but I have been watching it develop over the past 3 months or so.

OK ... I will check here, but Choun kiln pieces only come out to play here about once a week.

Along with the recent Special Offering #12, I bought a Seigan mizusashi as well from 真心堂. It's slightly smaller than the glass pitcher I've been using to hold my water, but it's about 1000 times more beautiful. :D

It has a nice curve to the body that makes it very easy to handle. Of course, the two handles help as well.

And then finally, another shot of my cup from SO #12.

Thx :D

David R -- my glass pitcher holds half a gallon, so the mizusashi holds a little under that. I'm guessing it'll fill up my UtiliTEA kettle about 2-3 times.

Hi,
I have a question about Hagis. Now this may have been posted in this thread before and if that's the case I'm sorry, but it's such a long thread.
My question is:

I know that these teacups absorb the tea, but do they also get "seasoned" like yixing teapots and release flavor to tea put into it?

There are peeps much more expert here than I but i believe it really depends on the glaze and clay in your particular Hagi. Some..are completely fully solidly glazed on the inside..like in my avatar..and I dont think much of anything would get through..its a beast!.. on the other hand some have more bare clay showing thru and probbaly get "infused" more

Ah thanks, that one seems very similar to the one I bought (Seigan?) :D

Ask us in a few years. I think most of us are quite new to Hagi, but Ian's comments are logical and I would tend to agree. I tend to use Hagi in a semi dedicated fashion.

Welcome to TeaChat Fredrik.

Hagi SO 6 came with a bonus, a clay, unglazed fishy ... complete with an eye. Serendipity? maybe, but I tend to think someone added the eye upon seeing the accidental fish.

I hope not ... *going to rub it*

Nope, fortunately not a sharpie ... maybe some iron in the clay.
